Broekhuizen Gutter Supplies started in 2003 as a division of Broekhuizen Metal Pressings cc, but had soon established itself as the leading manufacturer and supplier of gutter components in South Africa. Due to the huge success and rapid growth of the company and the increasing demand for gutter components, Broekhuizen Gutter Supplies was founded in 2005 as an independent company. The company relocated to entirely new premises measuring 530m² with state of the art machinery, which included 5 mechanical presses and 3 hydraulic presses as well as a staff complement of 12 employees.

Derick Broekhuizen, owner and founder of Broekhuizen Gutter Supplies, was instrumental in creating and achieving the success the company celebrated since inception. With his dynamic attitude and innovative approach to new market ideas and constantly keeping abreast with the latest trends in the guttering industry, Broekhuizen maintained its position as the leading supplier of gutter components in South Africa. The company took pride in manufacturing components of the highest standard and quality, and also exported gutter components to the UK on an annual basis.

As a result of the company's success and achievements over the years, it was inevitable that a company such as Hulamin Limited would eventually approach Derick Broekhuizen and make an offer to purchase the company. After much thought and consideration it was decided in December 2007 to sell the company to Hulamin Limited as they have the infrastructure to establish the company throughout South Africa.

We believe that Hulamin Limited will continue to build on the success and accomplishments with the acquirement of Broekhuizen Gutter Supplies and that they will be able to take the company to even higher levels of success. Derick wishes Hulamin Limited all the success that he had and more in the future.

Rain Chains

Rain chains offer a highly attractive and unique alternative to traditional aluminium or PVC downpipes.

The concept is simple, rain chains transform ordinary gutter downpipes into beautiful water features, whilst adding expression and character to a gutter system breaking the fall of the water and sounds great!

Although rain chains have been used in Japan for more than 100 years, they are now manufactured and sold in South Africa by Broekhuizen Metal Pressings cc in Cape Town. Available in two different designs, made from copper and brass materials, it comes in a standard length of 2,7m complete with the gutter attachment piece and can be shortened or lengthened to suit your home.

Installation

The chains are easy to install. A wire clip sits in the gutter over the downpipe hole. The centre position of the clip is bent in a V-shape to extend below the hole and the rain chain itself attaches to the bottom point of the V. Broekhuizen also sell the copper dishes in two sizes which anchor the chain, provide drainage and enhance aesthetics.

Derick Broekhuizen started his first company, Broekhuizen Metal Pressings cc in 1999, on a shoe string budget in a rented factory with one press.

Today, Derick Broekhuizen is the proud owner of two large companies in Cape Town: Broekhuizen Metal Pressings and Broekhuizen Gutter Supplies.

Broekhuizen Metal Pressings cc not only specializes in the design and manufacture of pressed automotive components, but also offers production facilities for punching, blanking, cropping, forming, deep drawing, threading and riveting. The tool division specializes in the design of small to medium press tools.

Over the past 7 years, the company has grown to such an extent that it now employs 27 people and has a range of 21 presses to suit their customer requirements. The company recently purchased an H-frame Mechanical press with a capacity of 150 tons. This 5m high machine weighs more than 16 tons and a special foundation had to be constructed.

In 2005, Broekhuizen Gutter Supplies was founded due to the increasing demand of gutter accessories and now employs 13 people. The company designs and produces domestic and industrial components of a world class standard. Broekhuizen Gutter Supplies distributes to all guttering companies throughout South Africa.

Broekhuizen Gutter Supplies is investigating the export market and have already sent two large consignments to the UK.

We have recently introduced CNC machining as a new division in the company with the aim of providing our existing clients with a wider range of services and attracting new customers. Our new, state of the art Milling/Turning machine centre is fast, accurate and highly productive.
